Community Involvement

We take pride in our community and are dedicated to providing a higher quality of life for its members. We promote social responsibility, encourage active participation and embrace positive change. We understand that our involvement will make a lasting difference that will help to ensure the long-term vitality of our community and its members. The Grand Rapids office of Northwestern Mutual takes a “hands-on” approach to its community involvement efforts. Our hope is to make an impact in the lives of those living in our local and regional community and that goal is the very heart of our outreach efforts for the entire office.  We hope to continue to make an impact in 2016 and we’d love to share our story with you!

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation Recognizes Northwestern Mutual for its Support of Childhood Cancer Research

It’s with heartfelt gratitude that we say thank you to Northwestern Mutual for raising critical funds for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Together, Northwestern Mutual offices raised more than $515,000 through its Race for Research. These dollars will support 10,300 hours of childhood cancer research. Thank you Northwestern Mutual for joining us in the fight. You are making a difference!

SUPPORTING THE KIDS FOOD BASKET The Grand Rapids office of Northwestern Mutual is excited to partner with the Kids Food Basket again this year. Whether we are volunteering our time or donating food, we hope to make an IMPACT in the lives of children living in the greater Grand Rapids area.

Group Volunteer Outings Grand Rapids office of Northwestern Mutual volunteer teams have been busy donating their time to make sure lunch is NOT the last meal of the day for over 3,000 children in the greater Grand Rapids area. We are excited to be volunteering over the lunch hour, every month again in 2016! Pictured is a group of Grand Rapids office of Northwestern Mutual volunteers who headed to the Kids Food Basket to make 3,000 ham sandwiches!

Fill-a-Bag Challenge The Grand Rapids office of Northwestern Mutual loves to host food drives throughout the year to benefit the Kids Food Basket. So we've created the Fill-a-Bag Challenge! During the challenge, Financial Representatives, their families and staff, generously donate food to end childhood hunger in our area.  We urge them to fill our Making an IMPACT shopping bags with Kids Food Basket wish list items. We host a Fill-a-Bag Challenge every quarter!

To find out when our next Fill-a-Bag Challenge, please email lauren.glover@nm.com for a list of dates. You can also drop off donations at our reception desk in our Grand Rapids office location at any time.
